After six years, K-Pop girl group GFRIEND is officially leaving Source Music after disagreements in their contracts.

K-POP girl group GFriend will not be renewing its contract with Source Music, the entertainment company has confirmed.

After six years together, members Yerin, Umji, Sowon, Yuju, SinB and Eunha decided to leave the agency after lengthy discussions and to “show better versions of themselves on their separate paths,” said Source Music.

According to reports, the group decided to leave after disagreements on their contracts.

GFriend has received so much love from fans, opening a new generation of girl groups with its various concepts and performances,” said Source Music.

“We truly thank GFriend for being with Source Music for such a long time. Please show them unchanging love and support for their upcoming individual endeavors, and Source Music will root for them too.”

GFRIEND debuted on Jan. 15, 2015, under Source Music with the mini-album "Seasons of Glass," which contains their debut song "Glass Bead."

Despite coming from a small and unknown company, "Seasons of Glass" debuted at number 12 on the Gaon Weekly Album Chart.

That same month, the music video for "Glass Bead" ranked number nine on YouTube's most-viewed K-pop music videos around the world in Jan. 2015.

Billboard named the girl group as one of the top five K-pop artists to watch that year.

GFRIEND achieved the breakthrough success that same year, in Sept. 2015.

Back in Jul. 2015, they released the song "Me Gustas Tu" from their second mini-album, "Flower Bud." While it received some attention, the song garnered international attention after a fan-taken video of the GFRIEND members slipping during a performance on a slippery stage went viral. The group was praised for their professionalism.

They entered the mainstream market in 2016, with the release of their third mini-album, "Snowflake," and its lead single, "Rough."

The girls received their first music show win with the song and subsequently won fourteen awards on music shows, including triple crowns on "M! Countdown," "Music Bank," "Show Champion," "Inkigayo." (NP)
