On July 31, 2023, ABS-CBN entertainment broadcast journalist should have been 65 years old. But this milestone celebration was thwarted by his sudden death last Wednesday morning, 29 days before.
Mario succumbed to septic shock at the Philippine Heart Center for Asia after almost a month of confinement.
He suffered a stroke and cardiac arrest after a showbiz event and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Eventually, an angioplasty was performed.
At that time, his son, Miguel Dumaual, happily expressed in social spaces that his dad was responding positively.
In no time at all, Mario battled a severe fungal infection, a complication from his recovery from a cardiac arrest until the final blow came.
Mario is survived by his wife Cherie and children Luigi, Miguel, Maxine, William and Thessa and grandchildren Sky, Alonzoe and Tali.
At 2 pm today, Thursday, Mario's remains lie at the Loyola Memorial Chapels in Commonwealth in Tandang Sora, Quezon City and will rest until Sunday, July 9. Interment will be in the afternoon of Sunday at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.
