JYP Entertainment reveals that Jinni of NMIXX has parted ways with the agency and the girl group will continue as a six-member group moving forward.

It seems that 2022 is not a great year for South Korean girl groups as this last month of the year, another member of a popular group officially parted ways with her agency.

Jinni of NMIXX reportedly left her talent agency JYP Entertainment “due to personal circumstances,” reported Korean Media outlet Soompi on December 9.

NMIXX will then hold all future activities as a six-member group with Lily, Sullyoon, Haewon, Jiwoo, Kyujin and BAE after it was confirmed that Jinni’s exclusive contract has been terminated.

“Jinni, who has been a member of NMIXX up until now, will be leaving the group due to personal circumstances, and her exclusive contract has been terminated.

We apologize for giving many fans cause for concern with this sudden news.

As a result, we are letting you know that NMIXX will be carrying out all of their future scheduled activities as a six-member group,” the statement read.

The statement came as a surprise for the fans of the rookie girl group as they only debuted on February 22, 2022 with the release of their single album, Ad Mare, which featured the title track ‘O.O.’

According to NME, in the short span of being complete as a group, NMIXX achieved global success as their debut single ended up on as Spotify’s 35th most globally streamed K-pop songs of 2022 and the group had been performing abroad as part of the line-up of KCON 2022’s Premiere In Chicago.

JYPE also apologized for causing fans undue concern with the news and asked for continuous support for the remaining members of the group.

“We ask that you give lots of encouragement to Jinni, who will be walking a new path, and we also ask that NSWER [NMIXX’s fans] give their warm support to the six members who will continue to grow and race towards their dreams.

Once again, we apologize to the fans who have given [NMIXX] so much support.”

With this, the fans might never find out the real reason why Jinni left the group as in a resurfacing interview of JYP, he said that the agency does not disclose the real reason for the departure of their talents as to protect the image of the idols and the agency.
