Jericho Rosales is returning to the TV screen with the prison drama series Sellblock, an international series co-produced by ABS-CBN with BlackOps Studio Asia.
Jericho Rosales will star in the upcoming prison drama Sellblock, an international series that ABS-CBN will co-produce with BlackOps Studio Asia, revolving around making money behind bars.
According to a Variety report, Ruel S. Bayani, head of ABS-CBN international production and co-production confirmed the news.
“ABS-CBN is excited to announce that ‘Sellblock’ will be headlined by our very own Jericho Rosales. In his nearly three decade-long career Jericho has earned the title of ‘Asian drama king’ and is one of our network’s finest homegrown talents and country’s top leading men,” said Bayani.
“We are thrilled for this opportunity to showcase Filipino talent on the global stage.”
Jericho is currently in New York taking acting workshops, keeping his fans updated through his social media accounts.
The synopsis of the upcoming show says that viewers will uncover how the drug lords inside the Philippines’ largest maximum-security prison made it their Las Vegas of prisons. However, according to Rex Lopez, CEO of Manila-based creative agency Psyops8, the story is 100 percent fictional.
"Nevertheless, it's heavily grounded in various real-life events which are relatively unknown to most audiences” added Lopez.
Sellblock was first announced last month as part of BlackOps’ genre slate of projects with its creative partner Psyops8, and its co-production partners Story Arch Pictures and Agog Film Productions.
In an interview in February 2022c Bayani revealed that Sellblock will be filmed at the ABS-CBN Soundstage in Bulacan.
Bayani said, “They will be using our sound stages because big sets are going to be built. It’s a prison drama. They are in Bilibid.”
Joining Jericho in the series are Tirso Cruz III, Cherry Pie Picache, Ronnie Lazaro, Rosanna Roces, Mon Confiado, and RK Bagatsing. Plot details and target release date have yet to be announced.
Other cast members are also expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Sellblock is currently being exhibited at ABS-CBN's virtual booth during this week's Filmart.
