After appearing in a series of musical theaters, the latest being “Mula sa Buwan,” performing solo in minor gigs and guesting in live shows of fellow singers in pre-COVID-19 pandemic, controversial actor Markki Stroem holds a major concert tonight, October 14, 2022 at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (TIG), the Black Box Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) at 7:30.
Titled “Leading” from a trilogy of a series of concerts collectively billed as “Triple Threats,” Markki will showcase his versatility as a singer in more than an hour show featuring his musical genius as a tenor.
Stroem will render songs adapted from Broadway, West End, original Filipino music—as in OPM—and movie theme songs which were personally selected from his vast repertoire by Markki himself.
“I am very inspired to do this concert,” he said as he is completely prepared for the show.
Dubbed as a series of "concept concerts," the narrative of the performance of Markki in “Triple Threats” is dictated by his song choices. Therefore, it is a rare opportunity for the audience to see a different facet of Stroem as an acclaimed theatre artist being featured in this initial presentation.
The other two performers are tenors Arman Ferrer and Poppert Bernadas in “All of Me” and “Ang Musika, ang Teatro at Ako” which are slated to hit the TIG stage still this year on November 18 and December 21, respectively.
Markki can sing, dance and act, the three cornerstones of “triple threat,” a defining moment of someone in a particular field who exhibits the three aforementioned skills that are necessary to excel.
Will the real Markki Stroem stand up to prove he’s worth his salt?
