At the rate things are going, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos' hands are full both as a public and private person.
Immediately after the holidays, Vilma was frolicking in Bangkok, Thailand.
Just recently, as a celebrity spouse, she was at the swearing in at Malacanang of husband Ralph Recto as the new Secretary of Finance replacing Benjamin Diokno.
No less than the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. administered the oath to Ralph in the presence of his wife and son Ryan Christian Santos-Recto.
Later, there was a running joke among staff of DoF that they wouldn't be surprised if Vi would come around anytime these days as a guest in the secretary's office.
Prior to Recto's appointment and induction as a member of the Marcos cabinet, Santos was busy answering and clarifying with entertainment reporter Jun Lalin about the criticisms she has been facing up with especially questioning her Best Actress award at the recently concluded 49th Metro Manila Film Festival for the movie "When I Met You in Tokyo" which she starred with Christopher de Leon with the special participation of Tirso Cruz III directed by Conrado Peru and Rommel Penesa.
But Ate (a term of endearment to an older woman by affinity or by blood) Vi is undaunted by bashings and reproaches from all quarters of social media which the actress considers petty.
In any of her interviews, Vilma Santos-Recto would say she didn't have a hand on the judging in the best actress category not even with the influence of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) which Tirso heads.
Boy!
The former monickered Baby Vi was passionate and hardworking promoting "When I Met You in Tokyo" not only in Metro Manila but in many suburban cities like Lipa in Batangas.
Ate Vi has shown her commitment and dedication as an artist in her festival participation.
Talk about the lone congressional 6th district of Lipa where Ralph was the representative in the 18th Congress, who would replace him now he's in the Executive branch?
If it is based on special election, who would run in favor of Recto?
Would it be the wife, the son or the stepson Luis Manzano or any other political ally?
Would Vi be wooed to throw in her hat once more to the political ring?
Or would she just stay home in Lipa City and babysit for Isabel Rose, nicknamed Rosie or Baby Peanut, her granddaughter with Luis and wife Jessy Mendiola?
Your guess is as good as mine.
Vi now calls her Vilmanians, Vilmates who are desirous of their one-year-and-one-month-old little darling Peanut. "What a lucky baby girl rosie, to have the most loving, sweetest and kindest momsky ever who longed for her for a long time.
"Ang sweet naman ng mag momsie Ate Vi and Baby Peanut!" they virtually chorused with three red hearts emojis.
Meanwhile, Vilma hasn't signified her interest to run for public office anew.
