There are many songs Asia's Sentimental Songstress Imelda Papin has popularized like "Bakit?" "Huwag," "Bakit Ako Pa?" "Isang Linggong Pag-ibig," "Mahal, Saan Ka Nanggaling Kagabi," among others but it is the former that Imelda has chosen to score the musical background of trailer of her filmbio "Loyalista (The Untold Story of Imelda Papin)."
"'Bakit' is memorable for me because it is dear to my heart. Of course, all of my songs are very unforgettable for me but 'Bakit' suits the movie," disclosed Imelda Saturday morning.
Why 'Bakit' as the music of the trailer of the film?
Papin started to sing an acapella of the song with its refrain "Kung liligaya ka sa piling ng iba..." which she followed up with a hearty guffaw.
What made her laugh up loud and clear.
"Why 'Bakit'?" she reiterated.
"Kasi, theme song namin ni Bong 'yon (Because it was our theme song)," Mel chuckled.
She was referring to Bong Carreon, Jose Antonio Carreon in real life, La Papin's late husband.
Mel and Bong shared a colorful if not explosive married life.
As one of the producers of the movie, Imelda suggested that her song "Bakit" be the newly arranged musical score of the official trailer of "Loyalista (The Untold Story of Imelda Papin)" which stars Claudine Barretto as Imelda in her younger days, Gary Estrada at Bong, Alice Dixson as Imelda R. Marcos, ER Ejercito as Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr., Maffi Papin as herself and Imelda, the singer as herself.
The movie is finally screening on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at SM Megamall.
