As early as seven in the morning today, October 14, 2022, pop superstar Ice Seguerra has accommodated herself at the Solaire Resort and Casino Manila for preparations of her show tomorrow at The Theater Solaire.
In her social media updates, Ice posted:
“Isang tulog na lang (One sleep away). On my way now to The Theatre at Solaire for ingress and concert preps. So far, this has been the most challenging concert I've ever done pero ito rin ang pinaka excited ako (but this is also the one I’m excited about). It's been 10 years since I did a solo major concert at the Araneta, so yes, the kaba (nervousness) is real. Pero alam ko namang andiyan kayo, yun pa lang, lumalakas na loob ko (But I know you’re all there, if only for that, I feel secure).”
Prior to her departure for the venue, Seguerra had very exciting, soulful if not spirited rehearsals when people in the music room were amazed at how the singer could breathe her own version of a Shirley Bassey classic “I am what I am.”
Ice’s partner actress and arts manager Liza Diño-Seguerra—former chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP)—was startled as her husband could infuse new dimension in an old song.
“Patikim pa lang ‘to (This is just a teaser—taste test),” Liza noted in her Facebook wall with a video of Seguerra belting out the Bassey signature song.
Ice’s rendition—in a drill yet—was sexy, cerebral yet emotional.
It was, to say the least, the singer’s overall statement of her performance once she steps in the center stage.
It is “Becoming Ice” total package, no more, no less—as an advanced spectacle.
Days before the concert, Ice still checked the theater for the final prep.
“Done with our alignment meeting with the Theatre at Solaire. Natapos ko na rin yung (I already finished the) 3rd revision ng show script. Almost done with my guestings to promote the concert on Oct. 15. Marami nang natapos, pero marami pa rin kailangan ayusin. Magaaral ng mga kanta, mag (Many are already done but there are still many things to fix. Study songs) preview ng edits, mag coordinate sa mga tao (coordinate with people). Rehearsals will start next week, gagawa ng (writea ) show script for another event I'm directing on the 12th, manonood ng mga (watch) entries for Asian TV Awards coz I'm one of the judges,” informed Ice.
After all these accomplishments, he said that tomorrow is another day.
“Marami pang kailangan gawin, marami pang mangyayari. Pero ngayong gabi, magpapahinga ako. Aalisin ko muna sa utak ko ang trabaho. Bukas na ulit (There still are other things to do, other things to happen. But tonight, I retire peacefully. I erase work from my mind. Till tomorrow),” he quipped.
Then Ice added while Liza was in South Korea attending the 2022 Busan International Film Festival in a soliloquy:
“Naisip ko lang, habang nasa Korea si Liza, parang magandang may bagong sneakers na gagamitin ko sa show, no? Yung galing diyan sa Korea. Yung bagay sa grey na suit ko. Naisip mo rin ba yun, lab? (Just a thought while Liza is in Korea, it would be nice if I would wear my new sneakers in show, right? The one that would come from Korea. That one would match my suit. Did you also think about, love?)”
Among Ice’s guests in the gig include Vic Sotto, Martin Nievera, Chito Miranda. Regine Velasquez, Cooky Chua, Gary Valenciano, Bayang Barrios, Juris, Princess Velasco, Sitti, Lolita Carbon and the Drag Race Philippines Queens Precious Paula Nicole, Eva Le Queen, Brigiding, Turing, Viñas De Luxe and Marina Summers.
“Becoming Ice” is Ice’s 35th anniversary concert at 8 pm. Tickets are available at Ticket World. Please click the link to purchase your tickets https://bit.ly/3wVWWvc .
Meanwhile, on the other side of east today, there’s the show “Marvels in Hong Kong,” a roving exhibition opening at 1 pm at the Ayala Activity center G/F Ayala Mall, Manila Bay.
The kickoff is a project of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) curated in collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of HKSAR.
To the attendees, snacks will be served.
