USJ adds another attraction to their park with Hunter x Hunter.
Universal Studios adds another attraction to their theme park this 2022.
Fans of Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter have something special to look forward to next year in Japan. Revealed as part of the second lineup of the Universal Cool Japan 2022 endeavor, Osaka's Universal Studios Japan is cooking up a limited time attraction that's currently set to kick off on March 4, 2022.
In this first collaboration with Hunter x Hunter, Universal Studios Japan plans to bring high-quality ideas to “super realistically” recreate the Nen abilities of Gon, Killua, and several iconic Hunter x Hunter characters.
This is not the first time that USJ has worked with a popular anime or manga series. In mid-2021, it collaborated with another popular Weekly Shonen Jump series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Demon Slayer attractions included a VR ride and a training challenge.
Hunter x Hunter started serialization in 1998, though the author Yoshihiro Togashi has been on frequent hiatuses since 2006. The Hunter x Hunter manga series tells the story of Gon, a young boy who discovers that his missing father is actually a world-renowned Hunter, a professional who specializes in fantastical quests and pursuits. Gon then aims to become the world’s best Hunter.
The series has sold over 79 million copies worldwide and has become one of Shueisha’s best-selling manga series since its release in 1998.
Hunter x Hunter is now seemingly having some bigger celebrations than ever. Not only did it recently honor the tenth anniversary of its second anime adaptation earlier this year, but with the USJ attraction coming in for their anniversary. The 2011 remake of the anime is available on streaming services such as Netflix and Crunchyroll.
Hunter x Hunter collaboration will run from March 4 until August 28, 2022 in Universal Studios Japan.
