Glamour and excellence in the craft are back in the biz.

It is highlighted especially when the original Dramatic Queen of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s is back.

Philippine cinema’s gem of an actress Hilda Koronel is back not only in town but also onscreen.

Hilda, Susan Reid in real life, returned to the country to spend the holidays with her loved ones she left behind when she migrated to the US.

Koronel will also shoot a film for Quantum Films.

Producer Joji Villanueva Alonso couldn’t contain her joy and excitement when her company was able to tap the award-winning actress for the project “Sisa” to be directed by Jun Robles Lana.

“I was such a fan when I watched her perform in Lino Brocka’s ‘Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag’ and ‘Insiang,’ and Mike de Leon’s ‘Kung Mangarap Ka’t Magising.’ Her beauty and talent would always leave me in awe,” noted Joji in her Facebook wall.

Sisa, Hilda clarified, isn’t the literary character created by Dr. Jose Rizal in “Noli me Tangere” but a woman in the multigenerational Filipino femalehood.

“Sisa,” a co-production among The IdeaFirst Company, Octobertrain Films, Quantum Films, Cineko Productions, CMB Films, and Myanmar-based Forever Group, is a historical thriller about a woman who defies expectations in an era when women were meant to be silent. “Before the year ends, Ms. Hilda Koronel starts work on the film,” said Alonso.
