Versatility strikes on.

It’s mentor, playwright and actor Glenn Sevilla Mas’ time to show the public the other side of his persona.

Aside from being a professor at the Ateneo de Manila University, a playwright and a stage actor, Glenn is also a gifted live show host and a showstopper at that.

Sevilla Mas shone as emcee at the recently concluded “Free the Word” congress of the Philippine Center of International PEN held at the Main Theater Lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

During the forum of intellectual discussion among writers and National Artist for Literature Gemino Abad on freedom of expression and the threats of fake news and lies on truthful literature and journalism, Glenn was able to balance the cerebral and the fun of the occasion by his interspersed wit and humor alluding to the Q@A portion of Miss Universe.

It was a moment of triumph for Sevilla Mas as a host as he banked on his past experiences as a stage luminary. “I have always loved hosting. Mula (from) beauty pageants—I once hosted the Talent Competition of the national finals of Mutya ng Pilipinas and was main host of Bb. Palawan the year Katrina Halili was a candidate representing El Nido (a few weeks after this pageant, she went on to become a movie star by way of GMA 7's ‘Starstruck’ reality talent competition)—to sporting events—I also once hosted the opening ceremony of Palarong Pambansa and just a few months ago, the opening and closing ceremonies of the first-ever CHED National Friendship Games—at (and) literary, theater, at (and) cultural events. I love so much to do them,” noted Glenn in his social media spaces.

As a backgrounder, Sevilla Mas said he is challenged by his monopoly of the stage where the real offstage events are hidden from the audience.

Gustung-gusto ko ang adrenaline rush seconds before stepping on stage and becoming everybody's guide to enjoying the show.
