And it happened right there and then at the most auspicious moment in the life of the bride, when actress Carla Abellana recently walked down the aisle of Madre de Dios Chapel in Tagaytay Highlands in Talisay, Batangas to meet and to unionize with her groom, fellow Kapuso talent Tom Rodriguez.
Carla’s dad, actor Rey Abellana, was proudly wearing his filial excitement and love as he witnessed and gave away—together with ex-wife actress Rhea Reyes—his daughter to the man of her dreams.
It’s no secret that Rey, also known in the biz as PJ Abellana—his pet name derived from a character he played years back in the popular TV soap opera in GMA Network, “Anna Liza” opposite love team Leni Santos—has not seen her daughter Carla Abellana for the longest time.

Carla is the second child of Rey and Rhea Abellana, but the couple separated when their kids were still young girls.
The separation didn’t hamper the dad-daughter relationship as Rey has been in touch with his children who were living with their mom.
Rey, with his entire brood, was happy when he gave away his daughter to Tom.
“My wish for Carla and Tom are happiness, love, peace, good health and success,” he replied when I asked him his wishes for the newlyweds.
Carla and Tom were solemnly married by Bishop Teodoro Bacani.
When the bride took the dancefloor to dance with her father to the tune of “The Way You Look Tonight,” they beamed with pride and were all smiles as the well-wishers cheered on them.
