What is it like at the opening of an art exhibit sans its artist?

Yes, it happened today, December 18, at the Le Menoir of Mom's Backyard in Barangay Danlagan in Lopez, Quezon.

"Achara at Banana," a collection of art works of Fil-Am visual artist Neil Folloso over the years will see display even without the creator himself.

"Sorry po but I did my best. My papers to travel to the Philippines weren't approved on time," said Neil apologetically.

But he said, his younger brother Daks Folloso, an artist himself, will oversee the opening of the exhibit.

Folloso said the presence of his artistic creations is more important than the artist.

"My works will make up for my absence because they are the representations of my vision in life which is to promote traditional and cultural heritage in the country," Neil expounded.

"Achara at Banana," "achara," pickled shredded papaya or heart or palm stalks and banana chips are two delicacies Lopez town is famous for.

"I want to promote achara and banana not only in the Philippines but abroad as well," the artist stressed.

Folloso, who is based in Texas in the US, has been painting since he was a young student back home.

In 2024, Neil revealed, "Achara at Banana" will already be a festival with various activities added to it like modelling, on the spot painting etc.

"Achara at Banana" will also feature a signing of artists and other guests on the new creation of the artist titled "Wall of Art."
