EXO’s Xiumin returns to the small screen after landing a lead role in the new drama series “Sajangdol Mart”, his first acting role after seven years
Xiumin of South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO will be making his drama comeback with his first lead role in seven years in a new series “Sajangdol Mart” as per JTBC News via Soompi on September 14, Wednesday.
The K-pop idol will be starring in “Sajangdol Mart” as confirmed by his talent SM Entertainment saying, “Xiumin will be leading the new drama ‘Sajangdol Mart.'”
One drama official also told ALLKPOP yesterday that “Xiumin, who reached his 10th debut anniversary this year, will be starring as the main role in the new drama ‘[Sajangdol] Mart”.
The new series follows various stories of past idol group members who ended up coming together to run a supermarket and will be led by producing director Lee Yoo Yeon of the web drama “Best Mistake.”
However, additional details including the premier date for “Sajangdol Mart” has yet to be announced as of this writing.
Xiumin made his acting debut with the webtoon drama “Falling for Challenge” in 2015, where he played the character of Na Do Jeon alongside actress Kim So Eun.
He then followed his acting venture with his group’s own web series called EXO Next Door for a minor role.
In 2016, he continued his acting career by starring in the film “Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River”, alongside Yoo Seung Ho which is based on an ancient novel of satire and humor about Kim Seon-dal who sold off the Taedong River.
The idol is also wrapping up his preparations for his long-awaited solo debut with his first album “Brand New” which will drop on September 26.
“Brand New” is expected to contain a total of five songs, including the title track ‘Brand New’ as his fans were treated with a performance of his the pre-released song ‘Serenity’ at “SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ HUMAN CITY SUWON” on August 20 that made the fans look forward to his solo project.
“Xiumin has been enjoying global popularity as an all-rounder in the field of music, musicals and film” stated SM Entertainment. “He is expected to showcase another of his unexplored sides in his solo material.”
