Super Junior member Eunhyuk to miss Super Show 9: Road in Manila after the passing of his father just before the group was set to leave Korea for the Philippines
Super Junior's Lee Hyuk-jae, famously known as Eunhyuk, failed to depart from Korea for his group’s ‘Super Junior World Tour - Super Show 9: Road in Manila’ set to happen tonight, August 6, due to his father’s sudden passing, according to the group’s agency Label SJ.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Eunhyuk’s father,” Label SJ said in a statement on Saturday as posted on the group’s official Twitter account.
The agency apologized to Super Junior’s fans known as ELF for the sudden notice and explained it will provide further details on the Manila concert as early as possible.
“We are internally discussing matters on the concert and will provide additional guidance as soon as possible. We apologize for the sudden notice, and appreciate your understanding during this time,” Label SJ added.
The news comes after an earlier announcement that member Siwon will not be able to participate in the Manila concert as he tested positive for COVID-19 during their preparation for the overseas concert.
Siwon is currently in self-quarantine back in Korea and has pushed back all his scheduled activities.
While Heechul will also not be able to participate in the concert due to his health condition.
“For the safety of all, we politely decline any visits and flowers, and ask for your kind consideration to allow Eunhyuk plenty of privacy and time to mourn. May he rest in peace,” the agency said.
Label SJ also stated that the funeral will be held privately and only with relatives and close acquaintances.
The rest of Super Junior – Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Donghae, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun – has been confirmed to have arrived in the country on Friday, August 5, and are all set for the show at the Mall of Asia Arena.
