Marcus Adoro reaches out to daughter Syd Hartha and fans of Eraserheads after his issue of domestic abuse had resurfaced with the band's announced reunion gigi.

Former Eraserheads guitarist broke his silence amidst the backlash he had been experiencing regarding the domestic abuse allegations since the reunion concert of the band was announced.

Adoro penned a statement on his Instagram account on Monday, September 26, addressing his daughter, singer Syd Hartha, admitting that he had no communication for years.

“Recently, I’ve tried to reach out to her through her manager, but I’m not sure if my messages are getting through,” he said. “So, I’m making this post.”
“Syd, sa’n ka man (wherever you are), I hope you’re doing well. As you already know, I’m far from perfect kaya (so it is) normal if you want nothing to do with me,” he stated. “Sana lang magkaroon ng (I just hope to have a) second chance for redemption.”

Allegations were made against Marcus by Syd, and ex-girlfriend, actress Barbara Ruaro, of physical and emotional abuse in 2019 when Ruaro posted a photo in Instagram of her face covered in wounds and bruises.

In the same month and year, Syd also took to Facebook her side, airing that she was verbally and physically abused by her father, Marcus, who she had just reconnected with at the time.

In the post, Adoro also apologized to the band’s fans who stayed with them throughout the decades and asked for their continuous support for the upcoming reunion concert.

“I’m sorry for the ruckus that I may have caused my family, the public, the sponsors and my bandmates. Pasensya na (I am sorry),” he added.
“I also want to thank the people who are supporting E-Heads’ art. Please continue to support the E-Heads reunion. Alay po sa ating lahat ito (This is for us all).”

Just after the announcement, band members started to speak about the issue as the controversy has started to take over the actual reunion.

“One of Ely’s non-negotiable conditions prior to signing [up for the concert] was precisely that Marcus resolve his issues, otherwise Ely would not work with him. This was promised by Marcus’ management, which was why we even reconsidered,” Diane Ventura, manager of frontman Ely Buendia, told ANCX.

Meanwhile, drummer Raymund Marasigan said that he hopes that all involved parties could “find peace of heart and mind,” while also stating that he respects the public’s opinion, and understands if some supporters would rather skip the show.

Additionally, in an exclusive interview with Rappler, Buddy Zabala has expressed his allegiance with the alleged victims and vowed to abide by the concert producers’ decision as regards the issue.
