Entertainment journalist and writing mentor Nestor Cuartero recently received an outstanding Thomasian award from the Pontifical University of the Philippines.

Cuartero, an alumnus of the University of Santos Tomas Faculty of Arts and Letters batch 1974, Journalism class, was given one of The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni (TOTAL) Awards recently at the Dr. Robert C. Sy Grand Ballroom, Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building, also known as Thomasian Alumni Center in UST Manila.

The TOTAL Awards is a biennial honor the University confers upon Thomasian alumni in recognition of their significant contribution to the society and the Church.

Recipients have undergone a comprehensive review process by a selection committee composed of past awardees, University administrators and the UST Alumni Association, Inc. (USTAAI) officers.

Nestor, together with film critic and teacher Joselito Zulueta, also known as Lito Zulueta, another alumnus of Artlets, were feted with the distinction in the fields of media and entertainment.

Cuartero has been writing about the local entertainment industry for five decades.

“Thank you, my beloved UST, for this TOTAL Award, The Outstanding Alumni Award, for Media and Entertainment,” noted Nestor in his social media posts.
