The epic battle over power continues as GMA-7 officially announced the new generation of “Sang’gres”, the keeper of elemental gems that balance life in Encantadia.
In August this year, Direk Mark Reyes confirmed to Aubrey Carampel’s report on 24 Oras that the four Sang'gres, Amihan, played by Kylie Padilla; Pirena, played by Glaiza De Castro; Alena, played by Gabbi Garcia; and Danaya, played by Sanya Lopez in Encantadia 2016, will appear in “Sang’gre: Encantadia Chronicles”.
“They’re still there; they’re still alive in that universe. We’re expanding it with new characters," Direk Mark said in an interview with Aubrey Carampel.
“Hindi sila pinalitan po, nadagdagan po sila,” Direk Mark further said.
The new generation of Sang'gres, composed of Bianca Umali, will play the role of “Terra”, the lost daughter of Danaya, the keeper of the earth gem. Faith Da Silva will play Flamarra, descended from Lirian and Hathorian Blood of Pirena and her Punjabwe, Father, and soon be the protector of Fire Gem. The first male Sang’gre, Kelvin Miranda, will play the role of Adamus. Son of Sang’gre Amihan and Memfes, Gunikars' Chief Leader in Adamya.
The intriguing part of the casting is the role of Angel Guardian, who is announced to play Deia, the chosen one to protect the Wind Gem. Interesting fact: Sang’gre’s director, Mark Reyes, asked permission from Iza Calzado, who played the role of Amihan in Encantadia 2005, to use the name of her real-life daughter for the series. Direk Mark shared their conversation on his Instagram account.

On the other hand, Encantadia fans are all intrigued by the backstory of “Deia”. Looking back on the last episode of Encantadia (2016), Cassiopea, the first Queen of Encantadia, played by Solenn Heussaff, introduced "Cassandra,” the kin from her blood, the hair of Lira, and the ashes of Amihan.
In the same Instagram post, Direk Mark clarified the character of "Deia.”
"At this point, your name wasn't attached to the role yet, so it's really serendipitous that it turned out that you have a special kinship with the OG Amihan! (Note: Deia is not Amihan's daughter, but the chosen one to take care of the Wind Gem," Direk Mark wrote on Instagram.
Moreover, the new villain also announces to join the cast of Sang’gre, Mitena, played by Rhian Ramos. Her character will set out to conquer Encantadia.
“Isa siyang Ice Queen, so I believe it has something to do with that. Pero may mga makukuha din kasi akong kapangyarihan along the way. So madadagdagan nang madadagdagan,” Rhian said in an interview with Nelson Canlas at 24 Oras.
