The name Gerphil Flores, 2016 "Asia's Got Talent" Second Runner-Up, indeed rings a bell even in the remotest town of Lopez in Quezon Province.
It is because when visual artist Tres Roman of Lopenze Artist group thought of holding an intimate concert in his art gallery in Lopez, he bursted out with her name.
"Parang gusto ko si Gerphil Flores. Gusto ko kasi 'yong kanyang (I like her. I appreciate her) classical approach to singing where she can perform arias," said Tres who also thought of LA Santos whom he can pair off with Gerphil, Filipino-German heritage.
"I want Gerphil's versatility. As an artist, she is such an intelligent musician who knows her craft well enough," observed Roman.
Even if he would travel to Taft, Eastern Samar where Gerphil is affiliated by virtue of her marriage to the son of party-list rep Marcelino Libanan, Tres voiced out his intention to talk to Gerphil.
Or Roman could negotiate with Gerphil online if she's abroad.
Although the Floreses (Gerphil's kids) and the Libanans are also citified in imperial Manila, they are certified Waraynons.
Flores, a soprano, is married to Brad Libanan.
Gerphil and Brad are also American-bred as they are also based in Nevada but come home if they have important events to attend to.
The Taft-affiliated singer is a flexible talent just like her musical style.
By the way, Flores-Libanan is also a product of Musik Garten, a music academy owned and managed by singer and music artist Michelle Nikki Junia.
When Gerphil was still a teenager she studied music under Teacher Nikki.
"I hope makuha ko si (to get) Gerphil para sa (for my) gallery ko," quipped Tres who is a sought after painter and gallery owner.
