Cebu City was devastated by a dreadful and massive earthquake last week that had destroyed properties and killed lives.
Today, the city wants to stand again but needs kind support from the other regions.
According to actress Jessica Pica, Cebu needs a lot of help from the outside world.
"Ano ba 'yon? 'Yong hindi lang (J wonder what was it), not relief operations," clarified Jessica.
Volunteerism is what Cebu City needs after a 6.9 magnitude tremor struck the whole province and its neighboring places.
Pica said she is praying Cebuanos and others affected by the quake to find continuous safety and care from altruistic people.
Local show business hasn't slept in thinking of ways and means to help the region rise up again.
There are many Cebuanos and Cebuanas in show business who are sad for what happened to their province.
I supposed award-winning actress Pilar Pilapil is out of danger because the last time I communicated with her was that she is in Malapascua Island some miles away from Cebu city proper.
Knowing Pilar, she is a socio-civic individual who is always ready to lend a helping hand.
What amazes me was the readiness not only of Pilapil but her fellow Cebuana singer Dulce as well.
According to producer, radioman, entertainment writer Noel Ferrer, Dulce didn't mince words when he brought up the idea of a fund-raising concert for her kababayan who were victims of the calamity.
Noel said that he and his production is waiting for volunteers to sing in a concert which has no venue yet as of this writing.
Who among these Cebuano performers will sing for the benefit show?
Manilyn Reynes, Vina Morales, Shaina Magdayao, Richard Yap, Annabelle Rama. Ruffa Gutierrez, Richard Gutierrez, Isabel Oli, Matteo Guidicelli (of course, Sarah Geronimo has an affinity with her husband’s roots), Enrique Gil, Ellen Adarna (with Derek Ramsay, Morisette Amon, Suzette Ranillo and many more.
This early, the Ferrer-initiated fundraiser will be a success.
Good luck for the benefit of the victims of the disastrous earthquake.
