Asia’s timeless diva Dulce and stage, television and film artist Dandin Ranillo led the musical numbers during the tribute to the late Gloria Sevilla—the unequalled Queen of Visayan Movies—last Sunday at the Atrium Wing of SM Seaside Cebu.

Dulce flew in direct from Manila to Cebu City to grant the Ranillos' invitation and to share her music, specifically Visayan, with the audience who loved and respected Gloria in her lifetime.

Meanwhile, Dandin came all the way from San Francisco, California USA where he is based, to manage the tribute for her mother and to lead the launch of the Gloria Sevilla Foundation, a socio-civic organization which aims to support deserving Filipinos in the field of arts and culture.

It is also established to advance and sustain Cebuano arts and culture and regional filmmaking.

“The foundation’s goal is to revive and promote Visayan movies as well as help in poverty alleviation,” Dandin said.

Dulce belted out some favorite Visayan songs which Gloria used as titles in the Visayan movies she produced and starred in.

Meanwhile, Dandin sang his original song “Cebu,” a homegrown composition about the beauty and magic of the region.

Ranillo was supported by friends from Cebu like Sam Costanilla, Marlon Douglas Hofer, Executive Director of SINEgugma Cebuano Film Academy, Cebu City Councilor James Anthony Cuenco and Mayor Michael Rama.
