Drunk in love as TWICE drops music video for ‘Alcohol-Free’

The lyrics of TWICE’S new track expresses the initial stages of love, describing the intoxicating feeling that someone could have an effect on you accompanying the music video that gives off a “sweet summer escape” vibe with a bit of side fun with the mixing of drinks and refreshing dance moves from the members.

South Korean girl group TWICE is bringing back the summer vibe with the comeback track ‘Alcohol-Free’ from their 10th EP Taste of Love which premiered on YouTube on Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. (Philippine time).

‘Alcohol-Free’ is a multi-genre track that showcases Twice’s versatility in music as styles such as bossa nova, hip-hop and of course, pop were thrown in the mix to create a unique sound that complimented the members’ voices.

The lyrics of the track expresses the initial stages of love, describing the intoxicating feeling that someone could have an effect on you accompanying the music video that gives off a “sweet summer escape” vibe with a bit of side fun with the mixing of drinks and refreshing dance moves from the members.

A livestream was also set at 11AM to mark their official comeback with all the 9 members, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu, present all together once again.

According to Jeongyeon, who is also marking her own comeback as she went on a hiatus after the release of their 2nd full album “Eyes Wide Open” due to health problems, “Taste of Love” reflects how much the band has matured.

“This is the first time the members have had their names on all tracks,” added their leader Jihyo, in which they revealed all 7 tracks for the mini album and gave their fans snippets of the songs which will be available in all platforms on Friday, June 11.

“Taste of Love” will include the lead single “Alcohol-Free” and the English version of their 2020 song, “Cry For Me.” Other tracks include “Scandal” and “SOS” written by Dahyun,

“Conversation” written by Sana, “Baby Blue Love” written by Nayeon and “First Time” written by TWICE’s leader, Jihyo. “First Time” was also co-composed by Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall along with Rick Parkhouse, George Tizzard and Sophie ‘Frances’ Cooke.

In addition, TWICE also debuted their comeback track in the US appearing on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show”, performing “Alcohol-Free” remotely which was released prior to the official broadcast time.

As of writing, the music video has garnered 10 million views in just 8 hours together with 1.4 million likes. (NP)
