Neither USJ nor Nintendo has ever announced the Donkey Kong plans despite countless reports and leaks early concept of the theme park that included plans for a DK mine cart-style roller coaster.

The Mario-themed Super Nintendo World area of Universal Studios Japan in Osaka is reported to have started construction for a Donkey Kong expansion.

Nearby residents and USJ visitors have been sharing on social media videos and photos of construction cranes, scaffolding, and a jungle-themed backdrop suggesting the long-rumored expansion.

When Super Nintendo World opened in March, visitors noticed a large door that they speculate could be an entrance to a Donkey Kong section of the park.

Additionally, dataminers revealed that the USJ mobile app had Donkey Kong-related assets as early as December 2020.

Mario players would remember that the iconic plumber first appeared in the original Donkey Kong arcade game before getting his own game, Mario Bros.

In turn, Donkey Kong appears in games like Mario Kart. Given the nature of the game, the addition of DK in Super Nintendo World wouldn’t be surprising.

Universal also plans to open Nintendo areas at its parks in Hollywood, Orlando, and Singapore, but has no set completion date yet. Florida, however, has been reported to be delayed until 2025.
