Rep. Joel Chua congratulated Domagoso in ‘That Boy in the Dark’ winning best actor at Sweden’s BIFF and supporting local film industries.

Manileño Joaquin Domagoso is once again named Best Actor at Sweden’s Boden International Film Festival (BIFF) 2022 in Sweden for his great performance in “That Boy In The Dark” which will be in theaters starting January 8, 2023.

This 2022, Domagoso has proven his skills as an actor several times after receiving acting awards from several international film festivals.

Also, this last November, he won the Best Actor award for the said film at the recent 16th Toronto Film and Script Awards.

“Binabati ko ang aking kapwa Manileño na si Joaquin Domagoso dahil sa natamo niyang karangalan. Ang ipinamalas niyang husay sa sining ay testamento sa galing ng kabataang Pilipino na marapat lamang maitanghal sa buong mundo,” Rep. Joel Chua, who is vice chair of the committee on Metro Manila Development said.
“Manila has long been the historic hub of Filipino movies. Tangkilikin po natin ang sariling atin ngayong Bagong Taon upang mabakabawi sila pahirap sa ekonomiya na dulot ng pandemya. Trabaho para sa taga-movie industry ang katumbas ng mga ticket sa sinehan at ang subscription fees sa online streaming,” he continued.

Here in the Philippines, Domagoso was also presented as Iconic Young Actor Ace of the Year at The Global Iconic Aces Awards 2022 and Promising Young Actor of the Year at 2022 Philippine Faces of Success, Inquirer reported.

Meanwhile, every Christmas day, local film producers release several movies for Filipinos to watch every Christmas to promote family ties over the holidays.

“This holiday season, I encourage Filipino families to watch the movies featured in the Metro Manila Film Festival. My congratulations to the winners of the Metro Manila Film Festival,” Chua explained.
“Please also watch Filipino films and series on Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, HBO Go, Apple TV+, and other streaming sites, and OPM music on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music streaming platforms,” he added.
“Now is the time to experience the holidays again in the ways we used to before the pandemic, but safely, please. We are now again able to gather to watch movies in theaters and in our homes. But the COVID virus variants are still out there. Wash your hands frequently and wear your face masks when you are in crowded places. “

Let’s show the world how distinctively remarkable Filipino holidays are observed while supporting the talented performers and technical team who produce our entertainment experiences.
