If Viva Films’ “Sisid (Dive)”—which is scheduled to livestream in Vivamax this Friday (March 25) —is teeming with steamy takes of man-to-woman and man-to-man sex scenes, what more should we expect of its version for international film festivals?
In last Tuesday’s face-to-face press interview with world renowned Brillante Ma. Mendoza, he said there are many possibilities and he intends to enter the film in foreign movie events.
“Pero siyempre, ipapalabas ito sa online kaya dapat may ibang mapapanood sa (of course, this will be shown online so there has to be something new to watch in) international film circuit,” explained Brillante.
Although there are plenty of hetero sex as well as homoerotic scenes in the film, Mendoza said he doesn’t want to exploit the situations of his male and female stars just to make money.
“Ayoko ko ng (I don’t want) exploitative films. I show the sex scenes in context and not to sensationalize,” he elucidated.
As a matter of fact, according to him, he didn’t include in his edited version some delicate scenes which showed accidental appearances of his stars’ private parts.
“Marami kaming nakunan kahit na ‘yong lumabas na di sinasadya ‘yong kina Vince Rillon at Paolo Gumabao pero hindi ko ginamit. Marami pa namang ibang shots (We shot a lot even the ones which accidentally showed Vince and Paolo’s private parts but I didn’t use them),” recalled Mendoza.
Brillante, the 62nd Cannes Palme d’Or Best Director for “Kinatay” said he knows how to respect the artistic rights of his film workers.
Brillante didn’t conceal, though, his intention to make a Director’s Cut of the film.
“Marami akong idadagdag para sa (I would reedit and add scenes for) international film festivals,” he assured.
Other stars of “Sisid” include Kylie Versoza, Christine Bermas, Irma Adlawan, Jun Nayra etc.
