Talk-show host Conan O’Brien revealed that he was upfront about his lack of video game sense to the game publishers but was told that he was exactly who they needed.

Comedian and late-night TV host Conan O’Brien released a new video under the famous “Clueless Gamer” bits, this time featuring the game, Biomutant.

Clueless Gamer was a bit from his show, Conan on the American channel TBS. There Conan would play, often with guests, video games and give it a review afterward.

The bit was largely popularized by Conan’s inexperience with video games, the tongue-in-cheek complaints, and generally bad-mouthing the game. But the game companies pay him to do it.

Clueless Gamer was reported to become a standalone show but was never realized.

In this latest video, Conan plays the soon-to-be-released Biomutant game with actor JB Smoove. His verdict? "It was a game that went way too long and seemed to have no point.”

In an interview with Vulture, Conan revealed that he was upfront about his lack of video game sense to the game publishers but was told that he was exactly who they needed.

“I said, ‘You don’t understand. I’m bad at video games, I’m contemptuous of them, and I’m going to shit all over yours,’” O’Brien explained.

Gamers, over the years, have been streaming their gameplay on Twitch and YouTube uploading tricks and hacks like Pewdiepie, Markiplier, MrBeast, and more.

Conan’s helpless gameplay, paired with his relentless critique veered away from the usual content gamers are used to while also catering to non-gamers.

Through the years, Conan accepted big production games like The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Mortal Kombat X, and Mario Kart 8. His TBS show is reported to end this June to move to HBO Max for something new.

Fans are hoping that he brings Clueless Gamer with him to continue.

Conan continues to review games, this time unpaid, on the podcast Good Game Nice Try as part of the Team Coco network where he tackled the controversial Cyberpunk 2077 and the hype on Among Us.
