Singer-composer Renee de la Rosa died of pneumonia after being denied admission in several hospitals due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.
Renee de la Rosa, the musician behind the hit song “Pusong Bato,” passed away this morning at an undisclosed hospital, friends of the family had confirmed.
The singer reportedly died due to pneumonia, but friends said this was not due to Covid-19.
“Nakakaawa naman siya (I pity him),” comedian, impersonator and novelty singer Manny Paksiw (Johnny Dagami, Jr. in real life), one of Renee’s colleagues in the entertainment community said.
Paksiw related that De la Rosa was rushed to various hospitals in Metro Manila but no one had admitted him due to the surge of Covid-19 cases.
“Pero sabi ni Lito Camu, kumpare rin namin na singer-composer, negative sa Covid-19 si Renee (But according to Lito Camu, our buddy, Renee was tested negative of Covid),” Paksiw added.
“Masakit mang tanggapin, Pareng Renee Alon, ang biglaan mong pag-alis mo sa amin. Nakaka-miss ang ating samahan ngayon, wala ka na sa amin. Salamat sa masasayang alaala mo na kasama ka. Thank you sa mga awitin mo (It’s hard to accept, Buddy Renee Alon, that you’re sudden demise. We will miss you. Thanks for your music and those happy moments with you,” gushed Manny.
Renee was famous for the song “Pusong Bato” which he also sang after its original interpreter- singer Aimee Torres in 2003.
The song later became a hit again a decade later after being covered by “Pilipinas Got Talent” winner Jovit Baldivino.
No details of de la Rosa’s funeral activities were provided yet.
