Virtual mourning and paying last respects to the death of singer April Boy Regino

In live and virtual mourning and paying last respects to the death of singer April Boy Regino, his colleagues have been sending their eulogies relentlessly to him.

April Boy, or Dennis Regino Magloyuan Magdaraog, died of complications of diabetes and kidney diseases last Sunday morning.

April Boy’s remains lie at their house in Calumpang in Marikina City.

Movie scribe Linda Cabuhayan, who took the photo here, paid April Boy her last respects yesterday. “Kaibigan ko si April Boy (April Boy was my friend),” said Linda.

April Boy’s Nanay

Entertainment editor and writer Art Tapalla recalled his association with April Boy.

I remember the mom of April Boy, Lucy, a petite and loquacious woman. She brought one big winnowing basket of noodles to meet Big Brother writer Gil Villasana in his place in 9th Avenue in Murphy in the early 90s),” recollected Art.

Naaasiwa lang ako sa kanyang asawa na si Madel na burgundy ang buhok habang nakayakap sa bangkay ni April Boy. Laging matingkad ang buhok ni Madel mula nang sumikat ang kanyang asawa (I felt awkward for his wife Madel who was sporting a burgundy hair while hugging the dead body of April Boy. Madel has been wearing loud hairworks since her husband rose to fame),” commented Art.

A Humble, Versatile Singer

Gary Valenciano remembered April Boy not only as a humble singer but a real person as well.

“He was always a man who was very humble even when he was on top of his game. He always wanted to make his fans happy. I’m so sorry to hear about this. God bless the April Boy Regino’s family, said Gary.”

Actress Beverly Vergel described April Boy as a versatile songwriter and singer.

“Rest in Peace, April Boy Regino. He was a recording artist who was dubbed as ‘Idol ng Bayan’ in the 90s. He will always be remembered through his all-time hit songs. Offering prayers,” declared Beverly.

Colleagues Pay Tribute

Meanwhile, fellow singer Jaya also felt sad about her colleague’s passing.

“May you rest in God’s peace. Glad to have worked with you the beginning of the year. Condolences to the family,” she lamented.

Actress Liz Alindogan was shocked when she learned Regino’s death. “Happy journey to heaven. I can’t accept that you will be gone. Rest in peace. Folks, let us pause for a prayer for his passing.”

Film Producer Johnny Mateo bid his friend April Boy goodbye. “You’re the idol of the masses,” said Mateo.

“Farewell, April Boy Regino,” said movie director Arman Reyes.
