In a very auspicious atmosphere of congeniality and fairness at the 5th Eddys Awards of the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (Speed) held last night at the newly- restored Metropolitan Theater in Manila, Charo Santos was adjudged Best Actress for her sterling performance in “Kun Maupay Man It Panahon (Whether the Weather is Fine)” while Christian Bables was chosen Best Actor for his versatile portrayal in “Big Night.”
Charo, also known in the corporate communication industry as Charo Santos-Concio, came to the hall in the middle of the proceedings accompanied by some ABS-CBN bigwigs who sat in the past middle row of the theater while Christian sat at the back of the gallery.
The Best Film went to “On the Job (OTJ): The Missing 8” of Reality Entertainment while its megman Erik Matti won the Best Director Award.
The Best Supporting Actor and the Best Supporting Actress which were the openers in the film awards proper were given to Mon Confiado for “Arisaka” and Lotlot de Leon for “OTJ: The Missing 8,” respectively.
