Being Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Michelle Junia, also known as Nikki Junia, it was a privilege and honor that she graced the opening night of the 19th edition of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival recently held at the lobby of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
“This is my second time in a Cinemalaya event because I had so many commitments in the past,” said Nikki.
“I enjoy being with the film community in the country,” she added.
One of the duties of the Board of Trustees is to formulate and execute policies for the interest of national arts and culture.
Film being one of the arts, Nikki believes that she must integrate and move around the film circle to get acquainted with its realities and to find common ground to make all types of movies—studio or small budget—more appealing to the public.
“I am happy that I attended the opening night of the 19th Cinemalaya. I am proud to be part of the independent spirit of moviemaking,” explained Junia.
