"Ang gaganda (How beautiful these are)," exclaimed Cutural Center of the Philippines (CCP) President Michelle Nikki Junia at the opening of the year-round exhibit of experimental and abstract works done by outstanding Filipino artists at the National Museum of the Philippines last Tuesday, November 21.
Michelle Nikki was reacting to the stimulating creations of National Artists for Visual Arts Arturo Luz, Vicente Manansala, Ang Kiukok, Jose Joya, Cesar Legaspi, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon Abueva, among other noted and exceptional visual artists who were influential in the contemporary art movement in the country specificaly during the 70s and 80s.
Billed as "Selection from the 21st Century Art Museum (21AM) Collection," the exhibition is a collaboration between the NMP and CCP that aims to promote the collection to a wider audience.
