What happens when a former student meets his or her teacher?
A student will always be indebted to his or her mentor especially if a vast invaluable knowledge is transmitted to him or her that serves as a guiding force to achieve greater heights.
Such is the attitude of internationally renowned singer Gerphil Flores, a soprano and 2nd runner-up in the “Asia’s Got Talent” in 2015.
When Gerphil saw Michelle Nikki Junia, her erstwhile teacher at the MusikGarten Manila years back, she was excited and proud to have met her after a long while.
It was a mutual feeling for Nikki, now new ad interim President of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), when she laid her eyes once more on Gerphil who aside from having prettier face which grows prettier each day, she has been maintaining a polished voice as well more than ever.
Beautiful Melodies
The occasion was the birthday party of Congressman Marcelino Libanan, former lone congressional representative of Eastern Samar, now the Minority Leader Party List of the group 4Ps (Pagtibayon at Palaguian ang Pangkabuhayang Pilipino).
Gerphil is the daughter-in-law of the Visayan politician.
Gerphil and Nikki got the best time in the world to share their music together as they sang beautiful melodies for the birthday celebrator.
“Celebrating 60th Birthday of Minority Leader Cong. Noy Libanan. A family very close to me as I was his and his daughter Marianne’s former voice teacher. To add, I was also the former voice teacher of Gerphil Flores-Libanan… It was a night of music and tribute to such an inspiring public servant. It was nice catching up with former colleagues from the Immigration as well,” said Nikki.
