Reports of BTS Jin serving as a teaching assistant in his own unit in the military has been circulating in Korean Media outlets.

Great news for ARMYs out there!

A military official delivered an update about BTS member Jin’s ongoing military training which started on December 13, 2022 after entering the recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.

All Kpop News said a military official announced on Friday that the oldest member of BTS has been assigned to his own unit in the Korean Army as a teaching assistant in the 5th Infantry Division recruit training center.

Additionally, the official said that Jin is still undergoing basic military training, which he is expected to finish on January 18, before he will start his service as a teaching assistant in the same battalion on the 19th.

Another Korean media outlet has reported that Jin apparently applied for the position and has been selected based on qualifications to ensure equal opportunities as teaching assistants are usually deemed as "standard models.”

“The final selection was made after going through a ceremony, command adjustment evaluation, and oral interview. The 5th Infantry Division will do its best until the end so that all trainees who graduate can faithfully carry out their duties in their respective units,” the official added as reported by Manila Bulletin.

Big Hit Music, the agency of BTS only said, “It is difficult to confirm" when asked of his status in the new unit.

It seems that getting placed in the teaching unit of the military is not unusual for idols and celebrities that have served or are currently serving as assistants at recruit training centers, which include EXO’s Xiumin, Kim Dong-jun, Yoo Seung Ho, Joo Won, Big Bang's Daesung, Siwan, 2PM's Taecyeon and “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” star Kang Tae-oh.

Jin’s discharge date is slated on June 12, 2024 as reported by a Korean Media outlet, and as per the band’s initial plan, they will be returning as a group sometime in 2025 after each of the men have finished serving in the military.
