Filipino-American YouTube sensation Bretman Rock is set to star in the revival of cartoon series “The Proud Family.”
The revival of the beloved Disney series is made for its 20th anniversary this year.
"The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder" will bring high-voltage star power when the eagerly-awaited revival of the groundbreaking hit animated series will launch in 2022 on Disney+.
Disney announced the guest stars for the upcoming animated show yesterday, which includes Lil Nas X, as well as other queer stars like Lizzo, Lena Waithe, and Jane Lynch.
Alongside Bretman, the list of Louder and Prouder guest stars reads as a veritable who's who of Hollywood, with other A-List talents like Chance the Rapper, Normani, Tiffany Haddish, Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, Courtney B. Vance, Marsai Martin, Jaden Smith, Brenda Song, Tina Knowles, all slated to lend their voice talents to the show,
"The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will pick up the story of its central character, Penny Proud, and include her madcap family: parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and grandmother Suga Mama (and Puff!)," the series' official description reads. "Of course, it would not be The Proud Family without Penny's loyal crew Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez, and Zoey Howzer, among others.”
The new series picks up the story of its central character, Penny Proud (Kyla Pratt will reprise her role), and her madcap family and friends.
Many of the show’s original voice cast will reprise their roles, including Tommy Davidson and Paula Jai Parker as parents Oscar and Trudy Proud, JoMarie Payton as grandmother Suga Mama, and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby.
The series is currently in production at Disney Television Animation and is executive produced by Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar, both of whom led the original series.
All original seasons of “The Proud Family”, which debuted in 2002, are all currently available on Disney+.
