Newest P-pop girl group Blvck Ace joins BINI and MNL48 in promoting music in a male-dominated OPM industry.

With the growing Pinoy pop or P-pop fever in the country and among several boy groups, a new girl group has arrived in town and they are Blvck Ace!

The five-member group composed of Anasity, Ely, Jea, Rhen, and Twinkle debuted under Blvck Entertainment, in which they derived their name from the agency together with Blvck Entertainment's head, Engr. Grace Cristobal.

However, the quintet’s name roots from a deeper meaning as “black” aside from being a royal color also stands for power while “ace,” being the highest playing card, connotes being on top, as shared by their group leader Anasity in their media debut last week as reported by PikaDaily.

"Together, they come to mean high and powerful," added Ely as the group is determined to be “high and powerful” in their effort to empower and promote OPM through different platforms.

Blvck Ace started their career with the debut single “Pasahero,” a tribute to the public transport operators who dedicate their day-to-day lives to provide service for their fellow countrymen.

Additionally, the song can also be a hymn about friendship as the “driver” mentioned in the song can be attributed to a dependable friend, while the “pasahero” can be someone in search of someone who can be of help in the challenging path of life.

The theme of the song can be summed up with the following lyrics from the group’s debut song, which goes "Ikaw ang aking pasahero. Ako ang s'yang magmamaneho. At ako ang 'yong superhero. Na taga payo mo sa t'wing akala mo tinatalikuran ka na ng mundo."

The group was formed through levels of auditions and were trained by attending personal workshops and camps while exposing them in TV commercials and joining personality/talent competitions, reported the Manila Times.

All this training helped the girl group build their confidence after working on their foundation in singing, dancing and acting for several months to be fully prepared to join the growing P-Pop community in the industry.
