BLACKPINK releases their new single ‘Pink Venom’ together with a music video that is on its way to be the most streamed video on YouTube in the first 24 hours in 2022.

BLACKPINK dropped their long-awaited title track ‘Pink Venom’ Friday marking their official comeback in the K-pop industry ahead of their upcoming second studio album ‘Born Pink’ which is set to release on September 16.

Jisoo, Rosé, Jennie and Lisa graced the music video with electrifying dance moves and striking verses as the hip-hop track featured traditional Korean instruments (geomungo) with strong beats which enhanced their strong vocals for the track.

According to their agency, YG Entertainment, the music video for this song is the most expensive video they have produced to date.

“Since it’s our comeback after a long time, we wanted to express our identity. So we put together words ‘Pink’ and ‘Venom,’ two contradictory words that will well remind you of us,” Jennie said at a media event.

It’s no secret that BLINKS have waited long for this comeback as they have racked up the views for the music video of the group’s latest single as 24 hours after it’s release, ‘Pink Venom’ already has a total of approximately 86,228,516 views on YouTube.

YouTube has yet to confirm the music video’s official 24-hour view count, but it already seems as though it has set a new record for the highest number of views achieved by any music video released in 2022 in its first 24 hours.

This trend is not unusual for BLACKPINK as the current standing record was also set by the quartet with their “How You Like That” music video back in 2020, is 86.3 million views.

“Rather than focusing on breaking records, we have really prepared for the new song so our fans and audiences can love it … (but) if we are able to break records, we would be really thankful,” Rose said.

After the release of their new album on September 16, BLACKPINK will kick off their nine-month long large-scale ‘Botn Pink’ world tour in October in which they are planning to visit at least 26 cities until June 2023, to perform to some 1.5 million fans.

The girl group is also set to return to Manila to hold their second concert in March 2023 with ticket prices and seating plans yet to be finalized.
