Jisoo of BLACKPINK will finally debut as a solo artist this 2023 as confirmed by her agency YG Entertainment.
The fourth and final member of one of South Korea’s biggest girl groups BLACKPINK is preparing to make her solo debut in 2023 as announced by their agency YG Entertainment on January 2.
Jisoo will finally put up her debut solo album much to the delight of Blinks — fandom name of BLACKPINK — after teasing her solo career and a potential album since the start of 2022
According to Soompi the agency released a statement saying: “BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is currently working hard on recording her solo album. While carrying out a busy world tour schedule since last year, she finished the album jacket photo shoot and worked on music production whenever she got the time in order to keep the promise with fans. She will greet [fans] soon with good news.”
As the months progressed, Jisoo revealed that it was not the time to go solo yet as she was “not sure how much I want to go solo yet,” and further teased her fans for her much anticipated debut by posting the question, “The music I listen to, the music I can do, and the music I want to do – what should I choose?”
However, to end 2022, Jisoo wrote on the social media platform Weverse which caters to fans, and appeared to confirm that the album would arrive this year.
She wrote: “Please wait for Jisoo’s solo album in 2023.”
Among her members, Jennie was the first to go solo, with a fitting title track called ‘Solo’ in 2018, followed by Rosé and Lisa who both launched their solo careers in 2021, with the releases ‘R’ and ‘Lalisa’, respectively as reported by NME.
Meanwhile, Jisoo also launched her own YouTube channel on her 28th birthday at midnight to surprise her fans and ended her first vlog with the announcement that all proceeds from the channel will go to those in need.
