Angry fans criticized Ben&Ben’s Homecoming concert due to the poorly- managed setup at the SMDC Festival Grounds.
After waiting for three months, the fans of local folk pop band Ben&Ben (aka Liwanag), vented their disappointment about their “Homecoming 2022 Concert” last December 18 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Pasay City.
A storm of posts of the concert-goers’ experiences flooded social media on December 20 about how badly the show was organized as it gathered 65,000 attendees but with poor security, long lines, insufficient implementation of health and safety protocols, no proper segregation between sections, and lack of food options, among others.
The unsatisfied fans pinned the blame on concert promoter Ovation Productions as they deemed that the situation could have been handled much better, hence, they feel like their money has been wasted and demanded a refund, reported Rappler.
Ben&Ben was quick to respond to the criticism that they have been receiving since this weekend, even though the issues were far from their control, sincerely apologizing to each and everyone who attended the much anticipated show.
We’d like to sincerely apologize to those of you who had a deeply stressful experience with the queueing, the entry into the venue, and the general gaps in the organization of the event…. We will be more vigilant with everyone involved in the planning and preparations of our concerts to ensure that what happened won’t happen again, most especially to you, our Liwagang.”
“Every song we sang was for all of you,” their statement was quoted by the Inquirer.
The underwhelming turnout of the concert can also be attributed to the sudden cancellation of their initial concert set on September 3, which was postponed only hours before the opening due to inclement weather which also angered fans who have traveled far, daring the unfavorable weather.
