The family that paints or installs art together stays together.
Or they who involve themselves in the arts bond together for ever and ever.
This is one of the bases why the immediate family of 1982 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe and actress Maria Isabel Lopez is still intact no matter she has long broken up with Japanese husband Hiroshi Yokohama for years.
"Whenever we have time, Hiroshi and I see and talk to each other," quipped Maria Isabel at the opening of "Screenscapes" art exhibit held at the White Room Gallery of the International House, SEMEO INNOTECH along Commonwealth Avenue in Diliman, Quezon City where she collaborated and organized with fellow artist, TV, film and stage actor Dranreb Belleza.
The last time Maribel and her former husband met and talked personally with each other was in Japan when they went there separately during the third quarter of 2023.
Meanwhile, Lopez shared the sportsmanship and artistry of surfing and boating with Hiroshi.
"But it's our daughter Mara who mostly followed the footsteps of her dad and concentrated in surfing," said the actress.
Aside from Mara Isabelle Lopez Yokohama, also known as the young thespian Mara Lopez, Ken Yokohama, the youngest, is the other kid of Maribel and Hiroshi.
Obviously, the Jap surfing artist is a supporter as well of his ex-wife's knack for visual arts.
During the launch of "Screenscapes," Ken, together with girlfriend Nicola Belmonte never failed to come and to watch Maria Isabel's art works.
Ken, who is an engineer and employed at the IT business, loves her mom's paintings.
Although Mara wasn't around, she sent congratulatory messages to her mom and promised to catch up with her painting activities in the Philippines.
The daughter is in the US with her fiance Chandler Booth.
Mara is proud of the art achievements of Maribel whom she shares acting talents with.
After her separation with Yokohama, Maria Isabel had an eight-year romance with American Wade Rowland.
After Wade, Maribel met American writer and labor lawyer Jonathan Melrod whom she married in 2019.
"Screenscapes" show opened on January 10 and will end on February 17, 2024.
