It takes an Angelique Lazo to balance two opposite poles, the dialectics in the weighing scale—agony and ecstasy, sadness and joy, modernity and tradition, war and peace etc. and everything in between and still come out intact and whole.

Surely, she's true to her name—angelique or angelic, angel—singing cherubic in the shoreline of the devil and the deep blue sea.

As a religious person, Angelique goes to mass almost daily, if time permits, although she makes it a point to squeeze in church service however hectic her schedule is in the frenzied media world.

Yesterday, Lazo with husband Ramon Mayuga, went to observe a Happy First Sunday of Advent and the day before, she was a moderator for the panel discussion of the 6th Conference of the Family and Life of the Archdiocese of Manila with Fr. Nolan Que and panelists Dr. Ryan Borja Capitulo, Atty. Joel Arzaga, Tito Chacho and Marlyn Angeles while preceding a recollection at the MEFP (Marriage Encounter Foundation of the Philippines) in Pampanga for married couple’s counseling.

Jik, as she is addressed by kith and kin, goes on board every morning, Mondays to Fridays at 9, in Radio Veritas where she appears as an equalizer of sort on critical stands of her co-anchors, clerics, for one, in the integration of political and divine discussion on news and issues catering to the laity.

Sa umaga, sa DZRV ako at sa tanghali, nasa PTV 4 naman ako (In the morning, I’m in radio and on early afternoon I’m in PTV 4),” she described her broadcast routine.

Angelique teams up with Anjo Bendijo daily in People’s Television Channel 4’ “Sentro Balita,” a primetime news show at 1 pm.

Yet in between these media assignments and spirituality comes her music by calendar singing with the Ateneo Chamber Singers (ACS) and performing solo in musical gigs.
