Charo Santos-Concio announces end of an era in Philippine TV as MMK will air its final episode on December 10.

The longest-running drama anthology in Asia will be coming to an end as host Charo Santos-Concio announced that “MMK,” will be bidding farewell from Philippine television after 31 years.

Santos-Concio dropped the news through her personal Instagram account in a minute and a half video on November 21.

“MMK,” premiered in May 1991 on ABS-CBN originally titled “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” featured real-life story of letter senders which were dramatized by actors in each of the episodes that were produced weekly.

A steady rise in popularity led to the expansion outside of television broadcast as the show was adapted into a radio drama, then a movie which premiered in 1994, and a comic book, among others, reported Rappler.

Through its decades-long run, “MMK,” has been a factor in kickstarting the careers of prominent actors as the show has been recognized internationally and locally for both its actors and production team.

Just recently, ABS-CBN News announced that “MMK” will be airing in 42 African countries beginning in January 2023, with Santos-Concio dubbing her lines in English.

However, as all good things must come to an end, “MMK,” has reached its threshold and leading up to its December 10 finale, the show will first air a three-part episode starting November 26 to mark its 31st anniversary.

Ito po si Charo Santos, ang inyong tagahanga at tagapag-kuwento,” she then ended.
