Lopez, Quezon actress Nica Naval (as Gregoria de Jesus or Oryang to Alfred Vargas’ Andres Bonifacio in director Richard Somes’ “Supremo”) was shocked when the news reached her that fellow Lopenze Anthony Lee had died.
Nica and Anthony were a hot item around town in the past especially during the time the former ran but lost her bid as a council member in the 2016 elections.
Anthony’s untimely passing has stirred a lot of thoughts among Lopenzes.
It’s a tragic, bloody end for Lee, known all over Lopez town as Tonton, when police authorities alleged he committed suicide.
According to the initial reports of the Sampaloc, Quezon police, between 4-5 pm of October 23, 2021, on board his black Toyota Fortuner, Anthony arrived at Sitio Kapehan, Barangay Bataan, Sampaloc and informed caretaker Abner Austria that he would go to the chapel. After several hours, he hadn’t come out yet so Austria went in and found Anthony bathing in his own blood. Apparently, the caretaker called the authorities who found out that the victim had “sustained GSW on his right temple.”
Nica said she knew Anthony as her kababayan (town mate).
“I could sense he was a good person naman. Hindi lang na-utilize ‘yong potentials niya,” quipped the actress.
Naval admitted that Anthony had courted her. “Pero ayaw sa kanya ng tatay ko (But my father didn’t want him),” she noted in her text messages.
