Kapuso actor and director Phillip Lazaro dies at 52 according to GMA Network and colleagues

Filipino veteran actor and director Phillip Lazaro has died at the age of 52 as confirmed by celebrities and friends in their tribute posts today.

News of his passing was known to the public after friends and colleagues in the industry expressed their grief in various social media platforms and extended their condolences to his family.

The passing of the 52 year old actor was also announced by GMA Network in a social media post.

One of the first people who remembered Lazaro was set production designer Jay Custodio, who described the late comedian as “one of the sweetest and supportive directors.”

“It’s a sad day today, one of the most [fine] and kind directors that I’ve worked with just passed away,” Custodio stated. “Praying for the repose of your soul direk [Phillip Lazaro]. You will be missed! Thanks for all the laughs and chikahan! Love u Direk!”
“Tito Phillip Lazaro, Even though we know it is a part of life, we are never prepared to say goodbye forever. Our hearts are heavy today because we have lost someone so special, but we also celebrate your life. Rest In Peace,” Lazaro's niece Armarie Saavedra Cruz-Go wrote in a Facebook post.

Tuesday Vargas also took to social media her grief posting a video in her wall saying that they still have a series that they have conceptualized that has yet materialized.

“Direk! Bakit mo naman kami iniwan agad? Gagawin pa natin itong Baklakula na serye di ba? Sobra akong nabigla sa nabalitaan ko. Ma mi miss kita Mama Phi. Rest in power. I love you Phillip Lazaro,” said Vargas.

Phillip started his acting career in the ‘90s and came into the spotlight with projects including “Wanted: Perfect Mother,” “Dahil May Isang Ikaw,” among others.

He last worked on several GMA TV series, “Prima Donnas,” “Nagbabagang Luha,” and “Widows Web” as second unit director.
