After a week of announcing the return of ABS-CBN’s Ball, the network released a statement saying that the event will have to be postponed due to “current circumstances” which were not specified.
ABS-CBN just announced that the return of the much awaited ball which was originally set for October 2 will be pushed back due to “current circumstances”.
A statemen released on Wednesday, September 14 on the network’s Instagram page read:
“Given current circumstances, the ABS-CBN Ball scheduled on October 2 is postponed. We remain grateful to our Kapamilya stars, industry partners, and friends for their unwavering support.”
The statement did not specify what circumstances happened but it was grave enough to postpone the ABS-CBN Ball’s first edition in two years.
The last held ABS-CBN Ball was on September 14, 2019 at Shangri-La The Fort in Bonifacio Global City, way before the COVID-19 pandemic happened, and the unfortunate rejection of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.
One of the network’s actresses, Barbie Imperial also posted another statement by the franchise on her Instagram stories which was sent to the invited guests.
“Given current circumstances, we have decided to postpone the ABS-CBN Ball. The purpose of the event was to thank you, our Kapamilya stars, industry partners, and friends who supported us through these difficult times,” the post read.
“We may not be able to get together soon, but please accept our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support for ABS-CBN. We look forward to seeing all of you at the ABS-CBN ball at a more opportune time,” it added.
Previously known as the Star Magic Ball, named after the network’s own talent agency, it has been around since 2006 which was made to celebrate the artists along with a charity event, which was anticipated yearly in the showbiz industry.
The ABS-CBN Ball then widened their base as in 2018 it decided to include other Kapamilya artists from different management groups.
This year’s ball would have been very significant as it will mark Star Magic’s 30th year in developing the industry with homegrown talents.
