Pip Fitz-Amobi, a determined and intelligent teenager, is unsatisfied with the investigation into the death of local schoolgirl Andie Bell, which occurred five years ago. The case was quickly closed, with Andie's boyfriend, Sal Singh, blamed for her murder before taking his own life. However, Pip isn't convinced the police uncovered the full truth and decides to explore the case for her EPQ (Extended Project Qualification).
What starts as a school project soon becomes a full-blown investigation as Pip digs deeper into the details surrounding Andie’s murder.
Convinced that Sal may not be guilty, Pip starts questioning those closest to the case. She befriends Sal’s younger brother, Ravi, who shares her doubts about his brother’s guilt, and together they uncover shocking revelations. Pip finds evidence of Andie's secret life, including her involvement in drug dealing and an affair with her history teacher, Mr. Ward, the father of her best friend.
As Pip’s investigation intensifies, she uncovers dark secrets that were hidden for years.
Mr. Ward believed he accidentally killed Andie during a heated confrontation and, in an attempt to cover it up, framed Sal and made his death look like a suicide. However, Pip's search reveals an even more shocking truth — Andie’s real killer was her own sister, Becca, who accidentally killed Andie during a fight over a traumatic incident involving a mutual acquaintance.
In a dramatic turn of events, Becca tries to silence Pip, but Ravi intervenes, saving Pip’s life. With the truth finally revealed, Sal is cleared of the murder, and justice is served, bringing closure to a case that had haunted the town of Little Kilton for years.
