Bucheon City, South Korea--The most anticipated B.I.G. (Bucheon Industry Gathering) of the 26th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BiFan) opened Saturday night (6 pm in PH time) with an international delegation and guests in attendance.
B.I.G. gathered the most active, productive and upcoming Asian genre filmmakers with world producers and investors, marketers, press and co-producers to support them.
On top of the annual project is Network of Asian Fantastic Film (NAFF) that handles various programs and activities of BiFan like Spotlight, It Project, Made in Asia booklet, Fantastic Film School (FFS) etc.
Ten Korean films were featured as entries to Spotlight: Korea, t13 selected projects for It Project were announced, films in competition were lined-up, various genre filmmaking students from various Asian countries and their mentors were presented, award-winning South American and Asian genre films were compared and contrasted, contents of the 2022 Made in Asia book were enumerated etc.
The jury in this year's NAFF was also presented and one of them is Brian Yuzna, a Philippine-born American master of genre filmmaking whose cult film "Society" took the whole world by storm in the 80s and which has been going around theater circuits around the globe with her other new fantastic creations.
According to Yuzna, he will continue to produce and direct genre films as long as he lives. "I am encouraging all filmmakers to do genre films.
