Bobby Garrovillo and Jim Paredes confirms reunion and tribute show for late member Danny Javier in Muntinlupa set on December 8.
Boboy Garrovillo and Jim Paredes, the remaining members of the iconic OPM trio Apo Hiking Society, is staging in December a one-night reunion, a month after Danny Javier succumbed to a lifelong illness.
Paredes made the announcement on a Facebook post.
“Excited and nervous to do this… As per venue rules, there will be no advanced ticket selling. There is only gate entrance on the day of the show. All seats are first come first serve, no reservations. Gates open at 7p.m. There is food to order at the venue. Show will begin 830 p.m. Entrance is 1200. Maximum seating is 200 pax. No SRO,” he wrote as reported by CNN.
The reunion show which is simply called “Jim and Bobby live at 19 East,” will be held on December 8 at 19 East in Muntinlupa City.
According to Inquirer, the super show is expected to highlight Apo Hiking Society’s hit songs, including “When I Met You,” “Panalangin,” and “Ewan,” as well as a tribute for their late member and brother Javier for his invaluable contributions to OPM.
Javier died at the age of 75 in October because of “complications due to his prolonged illnesses,” as announced by one of his children.
After the trio’s decades long career, they have decided to disband in 2009 to pursue their own paths as Javier kept a low profile away from the limelight while Paredes and Garrovillo remained active in the industry.
According to ABS-CBN News, there were calls for a reunion for the band in 2022 as the three were finally unified in their political stance after clashing once, however, Garovillo insisted that it was “not possible physically,” citing Javier’s condition.
Only Paredes and Garrovillo ended up participating in Atty. Leni Robredo’s rallies during the campaign period.
