Business tycoon Ramon S. Ang is now the chief executive officer of San Miguel Corporation (SMC), the business conglomerate has announced and will unofficially inherit the title Boss. Danding was fondly called The Boss by his employees in a nod to his exemplary leadership of the consortium which he led to greater heights and soaring success during his years as its top honcho.
He has been vice chairman, president and COO under Cojuangco who was chairman and CEO from 1998 up to his passing in June 2020
IN A move that consolidated his full control of San Miguel Corporation (SMC), business tycoon Ramon S. Ang is now officially the new “boss” of one of the country’s biggest conglomerates, succeeding the late Eduardo ‘Danding’ Cojuangco, the company has announced.
This, after SMC’s board of directors, appointed him as chief executive officer (CEO) of the business conglomerate in their April 15 meeting.
Ang will succeed billionaire Danding Cojuangco, who passed away last June 2020.
Danding was fondly called Boss by his employees in a nod to his exemplary leadership of the consortium which he led to greater heights and soaring success during his years as its top honcho.
He has been vice chairman, president and COO under Cojuangco who was chairman and CEO from 1998 up to his passing in June 2020.
Meanwhile, SMC also announced amendments to its by-laws, specifically on the duties of its executive officials.
“The role, functions and duties of the president and chief executive officer are unified in the position of the president. This change is in accordance with the recommended best practices in corporate governance on the separate functions of the chairman and president,” said SMC corporate information officer Ferdinand Constantino in a disclosure.
“All references to the chairman and chief executive officer will be changed to the ‘chairman of the board’ while all the references to the president and chief operating officer will be changed to the ‘president and chief executive officer’,” he added.
SMC has yet to name a new chairman in place of Cojuangco. (ONT)
