Nestle Philippines is now stepping up in support of the Philippines’ pledge towards decreasing carbon emissions by 2030.

They plan to do this by reducing virgin plastics consumption by a third, and cutting 30 percent of its greenhouse gas emissions in its local operations by 2025.
According to Nestle Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kais Marzouki, “we will collect and divert an annual average of 26,000 metric tons of plastic waste away from landfills and oceans, and reduce GHG emissions in our operations by 30 percent by 2025.”
Mr. Marzouki also revealed that the company has switched to clean energy in its Luzon factories, and its Makati office is now powered by renewable energy.
This new pledge is to support the Philippine government’s Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement to reduce carbon emissions by 75 percent by 2030.
With increased talks regarding climate change thanks to the recent climate summit by US President Joe Biden, countries have restated their commitments to decrease carbon emissions in their respective nations.
Nestle Philippines is now stepping up in support of the Philippines’ pledge towards decreasing carbon emissions by 2030. They pose as a great example for other corporations and businesses to follow suit.
After all, the government will only be able to achieve its goals if the private sector shows support by decreasing emissions by factories, plants, and offices.
Through collective action, the country would be able to stand by its commitment and do its part towards climate change.
With Nestle’s bold commitment, other companies should follow suit as this would not only allow them to work with the government towards climate change, but it would also entice their consumers to support their products given they are taking strides towards combating the world’s current climate change crisis.
