JUBAN, Sorsogon- ANOTHER halfway house which will serve as temporary shelter for former rebels undergoing the process of returning to mainstream society will soon rise in this province.
The Philippine Army’s 9th Infantry (Spear) Division spokesperson Maj. Ricky Aguilar said the P5-million halfway house in this town, which can accommodate at least 100 rebel returnees, is the third facility of its kind in the Bicol region.
“We have a five-story half-way house building in Masbate and one ongoing construction in Camarines Norte,” he added.
Major General Fernando Trinidad, commander of Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB), thanked the provincial government for helping the former rebels to reestablish their lives outside the armed movement under the government’s campaign to end insurgency in the region.
The full implementation of Executive Order No. 70 (EO 70) or the Whole-of-Nation Approach created more public facilities and projects to address the needed services in every community and stop the communist terrorist group recruiting more civilians. (with reports from PNA)
